An Overcast Day in London-town

IT IS FINALLY OVERCAST!!! YAY!!

The major downer: I picked today to NOT wear my half sleeve cardigan thing.... bah! I was tempted to buy a sweatshirt at ULU (University of London Union) but then I noticed that they were 20£...and they did not have my size. I know, I was perturbed as well. So I am either gonna grin and bear the nippy weather or go back to the flat and get my jacket. My biggest issue with this is that I would have to back track...and it is already going to take far too long to get the the Monument tube station for our London Walks Shakespeare edition Tour. Plus, I am so tired I might just fall asleep and miss the walking tour. Seriously. I am actually that tired.

Ok, moving on to more important things...like what has happened since yesterday! yay... O.o

So after Lisa, Allison, Cynthia, and I left the computer lap, we headed over to the Duck and Dive pub in ULU and got lunch. I had this amazing chicken burger and chips...and I discovered that the mayo packet they give with the burger has mustard and egg in it....it was kind of strange - and tasted that way too. We then headed back to the Russell Square tube stop and headed back to the flat.

We then hung out in our respective rooms for a few hours, most the the girls opting to take a nap. I, like the INSANE person that I am, decided to try and read The Tempest...and when I felt myself getting sleepy, I decided to then work on addressing post cards...and I ended up falling asleep. I only know this because Allison came in at a little after 4 and scared the crap out of me. Apparently, we were suppose to leave for the Globe at a little after 4.

SIDE NOTE At the end of class yesterday, we had decided to meet Professor Dinelli and Sharon at The Anchor pub before we saw Romeo and Juliet at the Globe at 7:30 P.M. END

As we were all standing around, starring at our feet, Neelie brings up that she has not got a ticket. So, in a panic, I call Dilke House (The AIFS headquarters). As it turned out, because Neelie chose homestay instead of the flats option, they had mailed her welcome packet and it had gotten held up at the post office so they had just dropped off another one nix the ticket. So after a bit of arranging, we met Amy (on of the girls from the AIFS office) at the tube stop by the flat, got the ticket, and were on our merry.

Eventually, we made our way to the Globe (going by the Old Baily (*SQUEEEEEEEEE*) and across the Millennium Bridge) and then made our way to The Anchor. We were only an hour and a half late ^-^ Then, after much searching we managed to find Sharon and Dinielli...and then Cynthia and Allison went upstairs to get us some fish and chips and Lisa and I went to the Bar to try and get beer. After a few moments, we realized that it would just be easier if only one of us stood there to order. After 20 minutes of waiting - and massive amounts of people "cutting" (they would jump in and order before I could even open my mouth!!) we decided that we would get it another time and actually enjoy it.

We then headed over to the Globe and it was AMAZING!! We ended up having seats on the third level (the top) and we could see EVERYTHING (ok, technically we could). We saw a REALLY cheeky version of Romeo and Juliet. It was amusing, and I really like how some of the characters were portrayed, but the over all production was really not that great.

After the play ended, we head back towards the Tube station and headed on home. I really really tried to read the Tempest for today's class, I just was not feeling it. So I ended up watching tele with Barbara for a bit. I then planned on going to sleep, but Lisa and I ended up talking about some stuff until 2:45 AM! Lemme tell you, getting up this morning was REALLY not easy....at all.

Eventually Lisa, Cynthia, Allison and I made it onto the Tube and to the ULU (where our class is)...but we stopped to get water, soda, and/or coffee first. Even now, I am still SOOO tired, I have actually fallen asleep while typing...no joke. (OH, that reminded me, shells can you tell kylie that I have yet to see Dew here...I think it is safe to say they do not sell it here...sorry).

So not it is off to lunch at ULU then on the Tube to navigate our way to the Tube stop for the London Walks tour. Fun...I know.

More tomorrow about the London Walks tour tomorrow.

cheers, amanda
